What types of leases are available?

We lease by the bedroom at GrandMarc at the Corner and offer 12-month leases. The benefit of individual leasing is that you cannot be held responsible if your roommate does not pay or is late with his or her rent.

What types of apartments/rooms are available?

You have the option of living in a 1 bedroom/ 1 bath (at $1,255/month),  2 bedroom / 2 bath (at $539/month), 2 bedroom/ 2 bath double-up (at $539/month)  or a 4 bedroom / 4 bath (at $729/month). All units are completely furnished and include a nicely equipped kitchen with all major appliances! All apartments include a built-in dining area with bar stools, sofa, oversized bucket chair, entertainment center, end table, coffee table, a full/ twin (only in double-up unit) sized bed, dresser, desk, and a desk chair.

How close to campus are you?

GrandMarc at the Corner is less than 5 minute walk from the UVA campus.

What is the cost?

Can I use my financial aid?

Yes, however, you should be sure to check with your scholarship/loans/grants, etc to make sure you can apply Financial Aid to off-campus housing. While UVA and GrandMarc at the Corner have a close working relationship, we do not share financial information. This means that YOU are responsible for the payment, not the University or Financial Aid supplier.

When can I move-in?

Move in day for the fall 2011 semester is set for August 20, 2011.  You will receive a letter in the summer informing you of your apartment number, and the time you need to arrive on move-in day. 

What if I need to cancel my lease?

Unfortunately, lease agreements cannot be cancelled. Please carefully weigh your options before signing your lease agreement. You will be bound to its terms for the entire contract period.
While a lease cancellation is possible, it may be possible for you to release your bedroom. Call the leasing office for more details. (434) 293-5787.

Can I request an apartment of roommates?

Roommate requests are first consideration for room assignments. Apartment preferences are taken into consideration and are not guaranteed. We do our best to satisfy all of your requests.

Is parking available?

Ample parking is available to all residents with room to spare for visitors. You can even pick up a visitor’s pass in the office.

What utilities are included in my rent?

Your monthly rent includes: internet, cable & HBO, water, trash removal, recycling, and furniture.

When do I put down a deposit?

A $100 refundable deposit is required during the application process.  All you pay is a one time non-refundable Processing Fee & Application Fee, and a small security deposit. 

Can I pay my bill with a credit card?  Is there an extra charge?

Great News! GrandMarc at the Corner just added a new feature that lets you pay online! View your balance, submit electronic checks, or pay with a Visa, MasterCard, or Discover from any computer. You can even submit maintenance requests! Just log on to our website, click the "Resident's Only" link and "Pay Rent." This will take you to our resident rent pay portal. There is a small convenience charge for this service.

Do I have to have a meal plan?

GrandMarc at the Corner does not require you to get a meal plan. You have a full kitchen including dishwasher, stove, microwave, and full refrigerator!

How many people live there?

We have 641 beds.

Will you send me a bill each month for rent?

We do not send invoices for your Monthly Base Rent. Your copy of the lease serves as your bill, which also lists a payment schedule.

If I am over 21, do I need to have a guarantor?

Every lease requires a Guarantor regardless of age.

If I pay in full, do I get a discount?

Unfortunately at this time we do not offer a discount incentive for residents who pay up front.

What size are the beds?

Our furnished units offer Full Size beds.  Our double-up units offer Twin Size beds.

Can additional furniture be brought into the apartment?

Additional furniture is welcomed and we sincerely hope that all residents are able to create a comfortable abode. However, due to storage constraints, we cannot remove furniture from furnished units.

What do I need to hook up my computer to the internet?

You need a standard Ethernet cable to hook your computer up to the internet.

When is my first payment due?

Your first payment is due July 1st or the start of lease date. The next payment is due September 1st.
