General Leasing Questions

Can additional furniture be brought into the apartment?

Additional furniture is welcomed and we sincerely hope that all residents are able to create a comfortable abode. However, due to storage constraints, we cannot remove furniture from furnished units.


Can I use my financial aid?

Yes, however, you should be sure to check with your scholarship/loans/grants, etc to make sure you can apply Financial Aid to off-campus housing. While UVA and GrandMarc at the Corner have a close working relationship, we do not share financial information. This means that YOU are responsible for the payment, not the University or Financial Aid supplier.

If I'm over 21, do I need a guarantor?

Yes. All leases are required to have a guarantor. If an approved guarantor cannot be obtained, Greystar will accept a security deposit of two (2) month's rent.

When do I put down a deposit?

A $500 refundable deposit is required during the application process for a 2-bedroom unit and $1000 for a 4-bedroom unit. A one-time non-refundable administration and application fees are also required at the time of the application process.

When can I move in?

Move in day for the Fall 2022 semester is set for August 19, 2022. You will receive a letter in the summer informing you of your apartment number, and the time you need to arrive on move-in day.

When is my first payment due?

Your first installment of rent is due July 15th. The next payment will be due September 1st.

When do I put down a deposit?

A $100 refundable deposit is required during the application process. A one-time non-refundable application and administration fee are also required at the time of the application process.

Do I have to get a meal plan?

GrandMarc at the Corner does not require you to get a meal plan. You have a full kitchen including dishwasher, stove, microwave, and full size refrigerator!

How are rooms assigned?

Residents who already have preferred roommates can confirm their roommate match requests using RoomSync, our roommate matching platform. If they do not already have a roommate, residents will search for and choose their own roommate using RoomSync. Residents will be able to communicate with each other during and after the selection process. In the event that potential roommates discover that they are no longer compatible, they can request a different roommate and we will do our best to accommodate any change request. To provide sufficient time and the greatest opportunity for residents to find the perfect roommate, they should apply and sign a lease as early as possible.

Will you send me a bill each month for my rent?

We do not send invoices for each installment of rent due. Your copy of the lease serves as your bill, which also lists a payment schedule.

Can I pay my bill with a credit card?

Great News! GrandMarc at the Corner has added a new feature that lets you pay online! View your balance, submit electronic checks, or pay with a Visa, MasterCard, or Discover from any computer. You can even submit maintenance requests! Just log on to our website, click the "Resident's Only" link and "Pay Rent." This will take you to our resident rent pay portal. There is a small convenience charge for this service.

How many people live there?

We have 641 beds.

How are roommates matched?

We have partnered with RoomSync to provide a modern matching platform where residents choose their own roommates. After you complete the leasing process you will be emailed a link to join our RoomSync network. You will then log in to RoomSync using Facebook, create a matching profile, and begin your search to find your new best friend - or roommate for starters. If you already have a roommate in mind, you can confirm your roommate request within RoomSync.

What types of leases are available?

We lease by the bedroom at GrandMarc at the Corner and offer 12 month leases with limited short term lease options available. The benefit of individual leasing is that you cannot be held responsible if your roommate does not pay or is late with his or her rent.

How close to campus are you?

GrandMarc at the Corner is less than a 10 minute walk from the UVA campus.

Is parking available?

Ample parking is available to all residents who wish to have a spot added to your lease. The cost is $100 per installment and it will be your own assigned spot!

What size are the beds?

Our furnished units offer Full Size Extra Long beds. Our double-occupancy units offer Twin Size Extra Long beds.

If I pay in full, do I get a discount?

Unfortunately at this time we do not offer a discount incentive for residents who pay up front.

What do I need to do to hook up my computer to the Internet?

You need a standard Ethernet cable to hook your computer up to the wired internet connection. We also have installed wireless access points throughout the community which are available for use as well.

What if I need to cancel my lease?

Unfortunately, lease agreements cannot be cancelled. Please carefully weigh your options before signing your lease agreement. You will be bound to its terms for the entire contract period. While a lease cancellation is possible, it may be possible for you to release your bedroom. Call the leasing office for more details. (434) 293-5787.

What utilities are included in my installment?

Your payments include: internet, water, trash removal, and recycling.

Renewal Questions

If I renew, will my guarantor have to sign again?

No. Your guarantor doesn't have to do anything extra!

When do I start paying the new rent amount?

On the first day of your new lease.

Can I request different roommates?

We want you to be comfortable here, and we will do everything we can to accommodate your roommate requests.

If I renew, do I have to move out and then move back in?

When you renew and choose to stay in your current spot, no moving is required!

What is a "renewal"?

Are you loving it here and can't imagine leaving at the end of your lease? By signing a renewal, you get to extend your stay at your community!

I'm graduating in December, can I still renew?

How do I renew my lease?

We know how busy you are, so we have made the process as quick and easy as possible. Renewing is a easy as "1,2,3"! Just following these steps:

1. Open your renewal email from us.
2. Review the terms, and click "Accept"
3. Follow the prompts to sign the new lease agreement.
